Home Telecom Negotiating with FOX Corporation
MONCKS CORNER, SC December 27, 2019 — Currently, Home Telecom is in negotiations with FOX Corporation concerning renewal of a contract for networks such as Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FOX Sports 1, and FOX Sports 2, which expires on December 31, 2019.
While Home Telecom is restricted from talking about specific rates, FOX is demanding a rate increase that is 10x the rate of inflation, after already increasing rates for Fox News Channel by 800% since 2004.
If milk increased by the same amount Fox News Channel has over the last 15 years, a gallon of milk that cost $3.50 in 2004, would cost $29.00 today!
Home Telecom feels this increase is excessive based on their networks’ ratings and what the average Lowcountry household budget can afford. It is not fair to Home Telecom’s hard-working customers to pay for a big increase while multi-billion-dollar companies like FOX make record profits.
While Home Telecom intends to maintain carriage of these networks, in an effort to be open about our discussions, we have no way of knowing whether FOX will pull their signals if an agreement is not reached by midnight on December 31, 2019.
The website, TVOnMySide.com, will keep our community up to date on our discussions with FOX Corporation, and we welcome our customers to join in the conversation at this site.
Programming fees account for the bulk of Home Telecom customers’ monthly bills. Our goal is to protect our customers from significant programming fee increases. We will keep the community informed of our progress in these discussions.
